Psalm 90:14
"The Lord your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!"

About Me

I am a very blessed gal. The Lord gave me the opportunity to attend/complete graduate school in Speech-Language Pathology. He has now opened the door to a great job in a new town working with the geriatric population. There has been a few bumps in the road; however, I'm confident that He has big plans and will work out the details in time. Excited to see what He has up his sleeve next. Ephesians 3:20 "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."

Thanks Max

The following is from Max Lucado's The Woodcutter's Wisdom. This blog exists because I found the story insightful and would like to remember it.

“Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. All you have is a fragment! Don’t say that this is a blessing. No one knows. I am content with what I know. I am not perturbed by what I don’t.” We only have a fragment. Life’s mishaps and horrors are only a page out of a grand book. We must be slow about drawing conclusions. We must reserve judgment on life’s storms until we know the whole story."

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” (Matthew 6:34)

To-do list:

  • Check Max Lucado's website more often (http://www.maxlucado.com .....it's good stuff).
  • Worry less

Caregiver

Aphasia group is a therapy program I've had the opportunity to be a part of the past 2 years of graduate school. This past weeks meeting was exceptional...thus why I am blogging about it :)

We invited a speaker to our group and this man has a God-given ability as a speaker. His presence in the room is amazing. Our caregivers open up in ways they never have before. There were tears, laughing, and deeper bonds formed within our group.

Thought provoking question #1: 'What does the word 'Caregiver' mean to you?'

Memorable statements made were: Caregivers give care but it's not always about doing something...sometimes it is all about being there. I'm probably messing up this quote but it went something like this...Don't just 'do', but 'be'. Misquoted or not...the point is still made. It's not always about the words said but just your presence in the room. Making yourself available to those hurting or in need. Members shared frustrations & successes. It's awesome to see lightbulbs go off as members relate to each others stories. They realize they aren't going through this journey alone.

Thought provoking question #2: "We have now spend the last 48 minutes together. This is time we can't get back. What have you taken away from the time spent here?"

Some of the things shared: "I've learned what patience is," "I've learned to not worry about things I can't control," "I've learned to pray about everything and ask for strength always," "I attempt to do everything my husband is asked to do so that I understand more of what he is going through."

We talked a lot about 'care' and to me personally this translates as 'love.' Showing love can come in all forms. Whether showing patience or helping a loved one become more independent...it can all be done in love. The strength these precious people have and the love they give everyday is unbelievable.

Quote of the Day:

"Live life passionately ,Love unconditionally, Hope for the best, Laugh your heart out, Cry when needed and learn from your past. But most of all remember; what ever is meant to be, will eventually find it's way to you."

Rehab

Rehab Addict has got to be my favorite Spring break find thus far. Ok, yes we are only one day into it but whoa.

ABOUT THIS SHOW

"Nicole Curtis is a sweet-talking, hammer-swinging whirlwind. Working in Minneapolis and Detroit, Nikki discovers historic houses once the pride of the neighborhood that have fallen on hard times. Pushing her rough 'n' tough crew, arguing with her family, wrangling with city officials and dealing with the usual litany of old house headaches, it's not always pretty. By the time the dust clears, a house that was ready for the wrecking ball is restored to its former glory."

Hello Cable. Lets be friends. I know that I'm not very loyal (when it comes to consistently watching TV shows of course) but I would like for you to be around when I have spare time. Ok Thanks!

Old (historic'ish) houses are my fav. So much character and so unique (old wood floors, sweet layouts/detail)! I kinda want one like today would be awesome; however, I think I should probably wait until I have a big-girl salary and have an idea where I'll be long-term. For now....I'll simply find sweet designs for a notebook so I'm ready for that day :)

To-do list:
Start (yet another) Idea Notebook

Lumberjack

Random thought for the day: What would it be like to be a lumberjack?

For the reals. I want to know. Not really sure how the thought originated....but maybe because I have been searching for a good plant that I can't kill? Lumberjack.....plants....both deal with vegetation, right? Sometimes a connection can't be made....but I think I'm onto something good here.

Using my resources I somewhat researched the topic. So if the opportunity arrises I will be ready for it. It's actually pretty interesting. Seriously. Who knew that "Lumberjack Day" actually exists! Get excited peeps. September 26th.

Talk Like a Lumberjack Day,
Eat Like a Lumberjack Day,
Attack Wooden Objects Like a Lumberjack Day,
and Today’s Awesome Because You Totally Don’t Have to Bath Day

I even found celebration suggestions. I need to throw a party.
  1. Pay for things as if the money is Canadian. Works best if you are in Canada, but is much more funny and illegal if you are not.
  2. Grow a manly beard.
  3. Knock things over all day yelling TIIIIIIIMBER.
  4. Dress in your best plaid flannel, boots, and suspenders.
  5. Bring as many axes as you can carry to work.
  6. Go out for pancakes/waffles with all of your friends or dress like a pancake/waffle and lose all of your friends.
I then proceeded to find my celebratory outfit. I figure the 'grow a beard' suggestion would be a little overkill so I found this fantastic piece instead. Problem solved.

To-do list for September 26th:
Wear Plaid.
Carry an ax.
Eat pancakes.
